Mining Permits for the Brazilian Amazon
Data Set Introduction:
This dataset consists mining license permit data in tabular
format for the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazônas, Pará,
Rondônia and Roraima in the Brazilian Amazon.
Objective/Purpose:
These data were collected in 1994, using reports from 1992 and
1993, during the environmental assessment process during the siting
phase US$ 300 Million kaolinite mining project on the banks of
the Rio Capím in Ipixuna county, Pará State.
Summary of Parameters:
Mining Permit Database The data provided here were manually entered into spreadsheet form from the internal listings of the regional offices of the DNPM (National Department of Mineral Production) in Belém and Manaus (see REFERENCES). The data are broken down by permitting process level (request or license) and by mineral resource type (see DATA DESCRIPTION: Data Characteristics: Variable Description/Definition). Discussion:
